Burnham Beeches is a 375 hectare site of Special Scientific Interest and a National Nature reserve. It was once Le Parc Burn, a royal deer-hunting park belonging to Richard, The Earl of Cornwall, in the 13th century. Since the 19th century, the southern half has been owned by the Corporation of London and open to the public. It is possibly best know today as a popular film site having been used for Harry Potter, Robin Hood, The Princess Bride, Goldfinger, and many other movies. Historically, it was a popular site for artists in the late 19th century.
