Margaret Catherine (Daisy) Maclure was born in Greenock, Scotland and immigrated to Canada, settling in British Columbia. She was an accomplished pianist and artist, working in watercolour she depicted indigenous subjects and portraits in both traditional and oriental style and signed with her monogram “MCM”. She married the well-known architect and artist Samuel Maclure, and the couple had a child Caroline Beatrice Maclure. Margaret and Samuel were founding members of the Vancouver Island Arts and Crafts Society in 1909. Margaret’s work is represented in the Kelowna Art Gallery. She died in Victoria in 1938.
